Ethiopia: Journalists Convicted Under Unfair Law

HRW: Currently, 29 Ethiopian journalists, opposition members, and others are on trial under the anti-terrorism law. Human Rights Watch said that the government’s exploitation of the broad and vaguely worded terms of the law to suppress the right to freedom of expression, the abuse of international fair trial standards, and the absence of credible evidence in the case of the Swedes raise serious concerns for the rights of others facing terrorism charges. Israel Should Withdraw the Anti-Infltration Bill

SOCEPP: Member of the Israeli Knesset have endorsed a new anti infiltration bill that criminalizes the entry of refugees into Israel. The text of the bill contains the following provisions: Automatic Criminalization of any person’s entry into Israel without a permit – with no discernment or consideration of the circumstances of his or her entry.
