SOCEPP Calls for the Immediate Release of Abera Yemaneab

December 1993: Abera Yemane Ab was arrested at Bole Airport, Addis Abeba when he arrived with a peace and reconciliation conference leading a group of members of the CODEF opposition organization. He was railroaded through the EPRDF controlled courts (one court order for his release was ignored) and imprisoned illegally for 12 years. He was then sentenced formally for ten years imprisonment, released, not even compensated for his two years more imprisonment and then rearrested and sent back to prison under a new conviction and sentence of 25 years.
