Unchanged Times

(A new poem by Hama Tuma)

Faces are white hiding dark hearts,/

fetid/

Where racism thrives./

A fortunate pot/

Can break a stone/

Time changes./

Traitors and cowards are hailed as heroes/

The real patriots forgotten

in prison holes and labor camps.

Israel has become racist towards Africans.

Aberash Berta has been disappeared

More than twenty years

But who cares for that

Attention is on others

A few years or months behind bars and already

Famous stars.

Filth is revered, treason applauded

Cheap wine in a new bottle feted

The bad cook is still in place

but the stove changed

to no avail.

Time changes they said

But the country is grounded.
